Bailey: January 25, 1998 -> May 18, 2012
Bailey was a neighbor of mine for seven years. We first met while she was out running with one of her two moms. Many times, many days, we met across the street at Fresh Pond Reservation's Glacken Field, or the path around the reservoir. And always a gentle, friendly, always tail-wagging happy to see me. From a distance, an orange and white, rhythmically bobbing, slightly arthritic, always a bit of a puppy, out for some exercise. I hate dogs. Stop with the leaving so soon already. I don't really hate dogs. I've just had a lot of friends say goodbye recently. Now Bailey, who, yes, I could see it coming a mile away. Goodbye Bailey.

Hi Richard,
We're coming to Fresh Pond today in hopes of seeing you... to thank you for all the smiles & treats & kind words you always had for Bailey.
Today is her last day with us and she'll be on her way to heaven tonight. Perhaps Bay and Cassidy can meet up and play. Thank you for always making Bay feel as special as she is.
Gratefully, K & C

Hi Richard,
Thank you so much for your kind words about Bailey. Every day, when we would get her ready to go for a (slow) walk around Fresh Pond, we would say to her, "maybe you'll see your friend Richard!" As soon as she saw you, her tail would wag and her pace would pick up! We could tell you had a fondness for the older pups and Bay knew that she was special in your eyes. That final lap around FP was unbelievably painful but tempered by the good memories over the years and also by a restive hour spent together at the dog pond. Thank you again for your kindness and friendship, which we cherish.
